What do Cody Ross, Andres Torres, Barry Zito, Santiago Casilla and Brian Wilson have in common?
They have all spent time on the disabled list in 2011.
The Giants are surviving without them and their depth at certain positions is showing. Aaron Rowand and Guillermo Mota, among others, have stepped up big.
But for this team to be a contender, these injuries cannot become a theme.
With Torres and Ross out, the Giants have played Aubrey Huff in rightfield on multiple occasions, much to the detriment of the team.
Darren Ford has also been called up to go along with Nate Schierholtz, Rowand and Pat Burrell to round out the outfield.
Can Ryan Vogelsong be the answer while Zito sits on the DL?
This question comes in the wake of Madison Bumgarner getting rocked for a second straight start.
The Giants need to get healthy for the long haul and stay that way.
