Bay Area fans: Ready for more Sharks hockey?

I will be the first to admit I know very little about hockey.

I'll also admit before this NHL season, I had not watched more than three hockey games in their entirety. But as someone who downplayed the watchability of the sport, I now really like hockey.

There, I said it. I like hockey.

And the part of the Bay Area that hasn't been watching, you need to catch up and get with the program.

Watching Game 7 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals between the Sharks and Red Wings has made me want to go to a hockey game live... next season.

Have you seen the price of tickets for the Vancouver/San Jose series? And a flight to Vancouver?

Wait, they'll be back for Game 3?

Okay, nevermind, maybe I'll go. Wait, tickets are still too expensive.

Back to my point.

The speed and skill of the game is incredible.

For those sports fans out there, I'll find ways to compare it to each of your favorite sports.

Baseball: Most true baseball fans love the pitching duel. A pitching duel is much like a matchup of two top tier goalies. When goalies are hot, there is no way of getting a puck past them.

When Lincecum is on, nobody can score on him. Same goes for Antti Niemi or any other top goalie.

Football: Hard hits, fighting and nasty collisions. Enough said.

Basketball: Much like basketball, there are few stops in the action.

Soccer: It is a nonstop back and forth match with low scoring games and shootouts.

For non-soccer fans: There are no ties!

For the masochists: Hockey players skate on sharp knives, carry large sticks around with them and are, sort of, allowed to fight.

Once again, I don't know the intricacies of the game nor do I preach to being an expert of the sport.

What I do know is if you haven't given hockey a chance before, now is a good time to start.
