Will Warriors draft luck change? Probably not

Tuesday is a day every Warriors fans should hate but brings false hope to many.

It is the NBA Draft Lottery.

The Warriors have made the playoffs once in the past 17 seasons and many times they are not quite bad enough to get the No. 1 overall pick.

Even when they were bad enough and finally got the No. 1 pick, the hap-less Warriors took Joe Smith while passing on Antonio McDyess, Kevin Garnett, Jerry Stackhouse and Rasheed Wallace.

The bottom line is the Warriors are notorious for screwing up their draft picks.

Do I hear Todd Fuller, Adonal Foyle or Patrick O'Bryant?

But the question remains whether the new owners will have an impact in the draft.

Is Larry Riley a good evaluator of talent? Can the Warriors build a team from late lottery picks?

Golden State has a 0.8 percent chance to win the NBA Lottery, set to begin at 5:30 p.m.

  1. Do I hear Ike Diogu? Mike Dunleavy?

Then again there's also Gilbert Arenas and Monta Ellis. And of course Steph.

  2. Gilbert and Monta were second rounders. That was more luck than talent evaluation.
